This FridayI watched "Lemony Snicky's A series of unfortunate events" in home. This movie is based on one of the most popular children book ( I heared it is as famous as Harry Porter). It's a nice and unique movie. The picture is very beautiful. All the scenes are like in the fairy tale. The performance is a little bit exaggerate, but great for children. The main character is Jim Carry. His performance is pretty good. He need to act several different character. He had done a good job. You will not say "hi this is Jim Carry AGAIN!" (like in some other "cheap" movies). I like this movie more than Harry Porter series. I think Harry Porter is too childish. Maybe because I haven't read the book, I don't have a resonance with the story. Sometimes, you watch a TV series or a movie because you like the book. You want to say how can they put the story on the the screen. In most cases, movie could never show the feeling you obtained through reading book, such as Jin Yong's books. In the book, author could describe mind activity very easily, However it is very hard to expressed by actor and accepted by audiences.

Today I went to Virginia Theater alone to watch a movie "Be cool" ( Yan need to write a paper which she promised to finish in this week). Rui Dong gave me two ticket which she picked up for free from IMP. When I was checking in, one gatekeeper said "there you go" to another gatekeeper. When I got into the theater, I found only ten people come to watch this free movie. I realized that the gatekeeper may mean "finally, there is one more guy come to watch movie".
This is the first time for me to come to Virginia Theater. This is a real theather and not a cinema. It has a balcony. The decoration is old fashion. Screen is so big that visual effect is even bettern than normal cinema such as Savoy 16. Sound effect is not so good because it doesn't have a surrounding audio system. I remember one month ago Will Child (my labmate) took several days off from lab to come to this theater for a movie festival. I don't remember the name of the festival. Will told me that the festival is sponsered by a famous UI alumni. This guy picks some movies every year for which he thought they were underestimated by people.
The movie "Be cool" is fair. The movie was starred by many famous guys. Some of them I know, and some of them I don't know. I know two main actors John Travolta and Uma Thurman. After checking cast online, I found Christina Millan, Andre 3000, Cedric the entertainer, "the rock" and Steve Tyler.
