Learned: Triptik
Today I joined AAA plus Chicago motor club. Annual membership fee is $81, and activation fee for a first time member is $10. I obtained many maps and tour books for free. I remember that I bought two maps for $4.50 each when I got lost in Detroit on my way from Waterloo, Canada to Illinois. I found a very useful and interesting member service called Triptik, which is a customized booklet containing regional detailed, recently updated maps for direction. Driving route is designed after considering newest road construction information. The route has been bolded on the maps. This service is even better than mapquest.com, whose maps are usually out of date. Actually, the reason for me to get lost in Detroit is that the mapquest designed road I-69 was underconstruction that day. Of course, the best thing for Triptik is that it is free. You can order a Triptik 5-10 work days before your trip.
